Antique Globe Wernicke 299 Double Stepback Barrister Bookcase
Early 1900s, American, from the Globe Wernicke Co, Cincinnati OH. Rare, early Globe Wernicke double stepback barrister bookcase, finish 299 (quarter sawed oak, deep rich finish, oxidized brass hardware). Eight pieces in total, including E base, rare E 13.5" stepback bookcase, two D 12.25" bookcases, three C 9.5" bookcases, and top. All bookcase dimensions are interior height. E section has interior depth of 12", D sections are 9.5" deep, and C sections are 8" deep. One of the earliest Globe Wernicke cases, makers marks are stamped to the underside of the slat on each bookcase. In overall very good condition, one glass pane has been replaced, and the E base is likely a 298 (partial label), but the finish matches very well. Overall dimensions are below.
