Antique Globe Wernicke Ideal Pair of Barrister Bookcases
Early 1900s, American, from the Globe Wernicke Co., Cincinnati OH. The Ideal series was Globe Wernicke's most expensive, well built, and well appointed barrister bookcases. This rare pair of bookcases are the 598 style (solid mahogany, dark rich finish, brass oxidized hardware). 14 sections total, each bookcase a total of 7 sections, including one drawer base, two 10.25" bookcases, three 8.5" bookcases, and one top. Bookcase dimensions are interior height, all bookcases have interior depth of 9.5". Features include stepback drawer base, paneled sides, fluted columns, beveled glass, deluxe hardware, acanthus leaves and dentil molding to the top section. In overall very good original condition, including original finish, labels, hardware, and drawer pulls. One pull missing a rosette, one pane of glass replaced with appropriate beveled glass, and two bb sized nicks to two panes of the original glass. Glass can be replaced at the buyers request.
