Antique Shop of the Crafters Mission Desk
Circa 1910, quarter sawn/tiger oak, from the Shop of the Crafters and advertised as a Mission Desk, #279. Featuring a drop down desk flanked by two stained glass front cabinets, and a large center drawer, functioning keys, and includes original label to rear, desk escutheon an appropriate replacement. Oscar Onken established his Shop of the Crafters on Fourth & Park (and later, Cutter) Streets in Cincinnati. The shop opened in 1904 and closed in 1919. Oscar Onken ranks among the most prestigious names of furniture manufacturers in the Arts & Crafts Movement.
